Roll Initiative Con
July 30, 2023
On Saturday, April 15th, I was at Roll Initiative Con in Ewijk, the Netherlands, with my own stand for the very first time!
I had already written a blog post to publish a few days after the event, but… I forgot! So, here it is, about three(!) months after the day itself. And with a little bit of editing – a web master’s prerogative! – I can tell you a bit about Roll Initiative Con and my experience of it.
As the name might have already suggested, Roll Initiative Con, or RINcon for short, was an event fully committed to Table Top RPG games, with all kinds of vendors (products ranging from dice to miniatures and more!), a program with workshops and speakers, and, most importantly, lots of like-minded fans of everything Table Top-related.
Since it was my first ever convention as a vendor I was a bit nervous. Questions like Would I have enough room to display my products? and Would people be interested in my shop? or Would I be able to strike up conversations without coming on too strong? and even Would I even be able to sell some of my dice? kept popping into my head. I had a bit of a restless night to be honest!
As it turns out, I had nothing to be worried about, because it was absolutely amazing! Everyone, from staff to visitors to fellow vendors, was cheerful and friendly. There was more than enough space in the vendor room, with windows to let in daylight, and I discovered that I loved reaching out to visitors and try to entice them to come over and have a chat. My husband, who’d so very kindly accompanied me on this first outing as a vendor, even told me how surprised he was to see me engage in banter with people I’d never met before!
Now I could go into detail about all the lovely interactions I had with people who stopped by, but I think that would be far too much text for a blog post. Suffice it to say that it was an incredible experience and the moment I heard about RINcon having a second(!) next year, I signed up right away. And if you’re as big a fan of everything and anything Table Top-related I hope you’ll consider buying a ticket to see it all for yourself. And… of course to visit me to get a five percent discount on all your purchases (wink wink).

Hope to see you there and remember: Keep ’em rollin’!
